This is the foundation of CEFR A1, not the whole of it, and not conversational fluency. It teaches the polite आप register, in Devanagari with transliteration. Thirty days is roughly 7 hours; the Council of Europe puts A1 alone at 80–100 guided hours.

Is the Hindi course completely free?
Yes. KindLearn's Hindi course is 100% free — no credit card, no premium tier, no paywall. The 30 days of vocabulary, AI conversation practice and every other feature are available at no cost. Note that there is no separate Devanagari course: every word is shown in Devanagari with a transliteration beside it, so you read the script as you learn the words.
Do I need to learn the Devanagari script?
Learning Devanagari is strongly recommended — it's phonetically consistent, so once you know it, you can pronounce any Hindi word correctly. You can practise with Romanised transliteration while the script is still new, and the AI tutor will work with either.
Is Hindi useful for business?
Yes. India is the world's fifth largest economy and the most populous country. Hindi is the primary working language across much of India's government, media, and informal business sector. For roles in technology, consulting, healthcare, or any India-facing industry, Hindi proficiency is a significant differentiator.
How similar is Hindi to other languages?
Hindi belongs to the Indo-Aryan branch of the Indo-European language family, making it distantly related to European languages including English. You will find familiar word roots (matar = mother, bhai = brother-related). Hindi and Urdu are mutually intelligible in spoken form, meaning Hindi also gives you access to Urdu speakers across Pakistan and the global Muslim community.
Can children learn Hindi on KindLearn?
Not yet. The Kids Zone currently teaches Spanish, French, German, Italian and Portuguese — Hindi is not among them, and we would rather say so than have a child open an empty lesson. The full 30-day Hindi course and the AI tutor are open to any age, and the Kids Zone is free for the five languages it does teach.
Can you really learn Hindi in 30 days?
Not to fluency, and we will not pretend otherwise. Thirty days at fifteen minutes a day is about 7 hours, and CEFR A1 — the first level — takes 80 to 100 guided hours. What 7 hours genuinely buys is 292 of the most-used Hindi words and phrases, which is enough to greet someone and introduce yourself, order food and drink, and pay, ask for and follow simple directions. That is a real foundation, not a finished language.
How many Hindi words does the 30-day course teach?
292 distinct words and phrases — ten new items each day across 30 days. They are chosen by how often you will actually meet them, so the course opens with greetings & introductions, numbers & counting, essential courtesy rather than colours and animals. Earlier days come back at widening intervals, so a word introduced on day 1 returns on days 2, 4 and 8.
Is Hindi hard for English speakers?
The US Foreign Service Institute classifies Hindi as Category III, estimating roughly 1100 hours of study to professional working proficiency — moderately demanding, with a new script to learn first. The first 30 days are the easiest part of that curve, which is why a short structured start is worth more than it sounds.
What should I learn first in Hindi?
The words you will need in the first five minutes of any conversation, in this order: greetings & introductions, numbers & counting, essential courtesy, about yourself. Day 1 is: say hello, give your name, and thank someone. Many courses open with colours and animals instead; those are easy to teach and rarely the thing you need to say first.
