Choose a language to learn free

All 13 languages have a complete written 30-day course: Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Italian, Portuguese, Mandarin, Arabic, Hindi, Turkish, Dutch and Polish. Each is roughly 300 high-frequency words across 30 short daily lessons, free with no subscription.

Each language also shows how demanding it is for an English speaker, using the US Foreign Service Institute's own published figures — the hours of instruction needed to reach professional working proficiency. Those describe the language itself, not this course.

Spanish is the usual first choice because it is the least demanding for an English speaker, but nothing here is gated and you can switch or add a language at any time.
